Scott Johnson has been a thought leader at one of the most prestigious law-enforcement agencies in the world, the United States Secret Service, for the last 25 years. In 2010, as a member of the Senior Executive Service in charge of the Secret Service’s Technical Security Division, he planned, designed and implemented technical security strategies for the U.S. President, world leaders, and events of national significance.
As the Deputy Assistant Director, Office of Investigations, Mr. Johnson developed and implemented new investigative policies and procedures while optimizing the $55M investigative budget as well as the 142 Secret Service Field Offices spend plans. Mr. Johnson briefed the Secretary of Homeland Security on some of the most significant information security and data breach investigations in U.S. history, where he was the Secret Service’s point of contact to the Department of Homeland Security on annual Secret Service cyber-crime enforcement and budget initiatives.
At the Criminal Investigative Division (CID), Mr. Johnson directed all U.S. Secret Service criminal investigations involving identity theft, credit card fraud, computer fraud, cyber/electronic intrusion crimes, and counterfeiting of U.S. obligations worldwide. At CID, Mr. Johnson planned, designed and implemented the cyber intelligence section within the division to better understand emerging global cyber security incidents and tactically apply that intelligence to combat cyber-crime. Mr. Johnson was also appointed as the primary law enforcement advisor to the President Bush commission on combating identity theft.
Earlier in his career Mr. Johnson had key Secret Service supervisory roles, including the Presidential Protective Division (PPD), protecting the President, Mrs. G.W Bush and the first family. Mr. Johnson had responsibility for the physical security of the President for both domestic and foreign travel and served as the primary Secret Service manager responsible for the security of the White House complex including supervision of over 700 security personnel assigned to the complex.
